Who doesn’t like marshmallows? We all definitely like them! Since the launch of the M Developer Preview at Google I/O in May. Today with the final Developer Preview update, Google introducing the official Android 6.0 SDK and opening Google Play for publishing your apps that target the new API level 23 in Android Marshmallow.

Check your App Permissions

Along with the new platform features like fingerprint support and Doze power saving mode, Android Marshmallow features a new permissions model
that streamlines the app install and update process. To give users this
flexibility and to make sure your app behaves as expected when an
Android Marshmallow user disables a specific permission, it’s important
that you update your app to target API 23, and test the app thoroughly
with Android Marshmallow users.

How to Get the Update

The Android emulator system images and developer preview system
images have been updated for supported Nexus devices (Nexus 5, Nexus 6,
Nexus 9 & Nexus Player) to help with your testing. You can download
the device system images from the developer preview site.
Also, similar to the previous developer update, supported Nexus devices
will receive an Over-the-Air (OTA) update over the next couple days.
Although the Android 6.0 SDK is final, the devices system images are
still developer preview versions. The preview images are near final but
they are not intended for consumer use. Remember that when Android 6.0
Marshmallow launches to the public later this fall, you'll need to
manually re-flash your device to a factory image to continue to receive consumer OTA updates for your Nexus device.

What is New in Android 6.0 SDK

Compared to the previous developer preview update, you will find this
final API update fairly incremental. You can check out all the API
differences here, but a few of the changes since the last developer update include:

Android Platform Change:

Final Permissions User Interface — we updated the permissions user interface and enhanced some of the permissions behavior.

API Change:

Updates to the Fingerprint API — which enables better error
reporting, better fingerprint enrollment experience, plus enumeration
support for greater reliability.

Upload your Android Marshmallow apps to Google Play

Google Play is now ready to accept your API 23 apps via the Google
Play Developer Console on all release channels (Alpha, Beta &
Production). At the consumer launch this fall, the Google Play store
will also be updated so that the app install and update process supports
the new permissions model for apps using API 23.
To make sure that your updated app runs well on Android Marshmallow and older versions, we recommend that you use Google Play’s newly improved beta testing feature to get early feedback, then do a staged rollout as you release the new version to all users.

Both Apple and Google have released developer previews of upcoming operating system platforms. Android M and iOS 9 will be officially launched within weeks of one another starting out in the Fall. While both Android M and iOS 9 are not complete overhaul of the platforms, rather center on shuttle improvements to improve user experience such as performance, battery management, and multitasking.

So it is about time to pit arch rivals against each other and compare some major features:

Android M vs. iOS 9 Comparison

Siri vs. Google Now:

Google Now and Siri got extensive coverage during both Google's and Apple's developer conferences. Google Now understands contextual information like never before. Now you can find out details of artist while listening to music. Simply ask “what’s his name.” Similarly you get information about nearby cafés if someone sends a text message about where you would like to have coffee without you having to say anything.

Google Now in Android M becomes “Now on Tap” which means you can long press the home button wherever you are to call up Google Now. The best part is that you don't need to navigate away from the app you're using.

Siri get more proactive than before. This seems to be a step in the right direction to curb the growing dominance of Google Now. Siri is also getting more contextual in iOS 9. For instance, if you get a call from unknown number, Siri can use relevant information on your phone and emails to suggest who that person might be.

Permissions and Privacy:

One of the major changes in Android M is the changes in permission levels. Now you don’t have to provide zillions of permissions to apps during the installation process. Rather permission will be requested as and when needed.

Now Apple tracks your phone usage and sends algorithms through your emails to optimize some of Siri's new features. However, the data gathered is strictly stored 'on-device' and remains private and works for your own benefit.

Apple Pay vs. Android Pay: Mobile Payments:

While Google was an early player in the mobile payments, it is yet to taste success in this field. Google Wallet will be rebranded and launched as Android Pay. Just like Google Wallet, Android Pay will use NFC to allow customers make mobile payments in 700,000 locations across the United States. The Apple Pay developments at Apple’s WWDC 2015 was more about expanding into new markets.

Android M vs. iOS 9: Battery:

Android devices have been known for dubious battery life. With Android M, the focus shifts on new feature called Doze. This new feature attempts to optimize battery life by lowering apps' background activity when phone is in standby mode dramatically.

Battery life was never a trouble area for Apple. Still the tech giant announced a 'low power' mode in iOS 9 that would boost battery life by an extra three hours. Apple also said that standard battery life in iOS 9 would improve by an hour.

Finally

Both iOS and Android are different operating systems. It is more like comparing Apples and Oranges. Yet with each and every upgrade two different operating systems are becoming similar, picking the best features. Google is trying to emulate the success of Apple Pay with the launch of Android Pay. Similarly, Apple is trying to ensure that its virtual assistant Siri gets more proactive and contextual, like Google Now.

Lollipop and iOS 8 were complete transformation. But they brought with them tons of problem. On the other hand, iOS 9 and Android M don’t bring about paradigm shift; rather focus on small changes for big impact.

Google launched Material Design back in the year 2014, with the ultimate goal of providing guidelines for designing and creating beautiful UI across different device form factors. In a bid to make things simpler, Google recently launched Material Design Lite. It’s a library of front-end components that makes it easy to apply Material Design elements to standard old HTML, JavaScript, and CSS. It’s a lightweight implementation of the Material Design with very few dependencies and is easy to install. Now we understand where the word “Lite” comes from.

According to Google’s blog post “It is framework-agnostic, meaning MDL can be used with any of the rapidly changing landscape of front-end tool chains. MDL has a low overhead in terms of code size (~27KB gzipped), and a narrow focus — enabling material design styling for websites.”

Although a number of Node.js tutorials exist online, most lack the comprehensiveness necessary for learning Node.js properly. Moreover, you can easily spend a frustrating fortnight trying to find and discern the worthwhile tutorials from the fruitless ones.

To learn Node.js, you need 3 pieces.
1. JavaScript the language
2. solid backend fundamentals, because Node.js won't abstract it from you
3. Node.js itself

First off, my recommendations for learning and mastering JavaScript.
- w3schools for all relevant technology
- Professional JavaScript for Web Developers
- JavaScript, the Good Parts
- JavaScript Patterns
- JavaScript Web Applications
- High Performance JavaScript

Secondly, you need to have solid backend fundamentals. That means networking, 3-tier architecture, MVC, databases, and etc.

Lastly, learning Node.js is quite easy.

Google is introducing the Eddystone beacon format. On Tuesday Google launched a beacon technology called Eddystone along with APIs. Eddystone, an open source and cross-platform Bluetooth LE beacon standard, changing the mechanics of the Internet of Things (IoT). This technology is named after a historically famous lighthouse in English coast in the county of Cornwall.

What is the connection between beacons and lighthouse?

Think about it in real-world beacons guide users in the same way lighthouses guide ships and captains in the night. Beacons are transmitters that send information about a specific point of interest. This information is picked up by a smartphone or tablet in range of the transmitter.

The open nature of Eddystone makes it a technology with the potential of being a game-changer. With the launch of Windows 10, Microsoft begins to deliver on the
vision of personal computing. In the words of Microsoft this is the “new
era of Windows” that extends across the broadest range of devices from
the smallest to the largest screens.

Windows 10 is a perfect amalgamation of the winning qualities of
Windows 7 and Windows 8. It brings the best of both desktop and the
touchscreen worlds. This operating system is easy to use with mouse and
keyboard and at the same time gets better touchscreen features. It is an
operating system that has a fresh feel, yet looks amazingly familiar.

The legendary Start menu is back with a bang and Microsoft’s new
virtual assistant Cortana and Edge browser infuse new life into Windows.

At WWDC 2015 keynote, Apple announced the launch of watchOS 2 in fall this year. The opening keynote at the company’s 26th WWDC provided updates to Mac OS X El Capitan, iOS 9 and overhauled Apple Music. But it was Apple Watch, the company’s latest wearable device that took the center stage in literal sense. Apple devoted a major chunk of time in the event outlining improvements to Apple Watch. Barely launched few months back, Apple Watch is already on its way for some major revamp, courtesy Watch OS 2.

Coming this fall, watch OS will provide more faces and features for a highly personalized experience. Designed specifically to take advantage of watch’s size and location on the wrist, this unique operating system will offer high-performance app experience and enhanced communication tools.

Google recently launched Project Fi,
a program aimed at delivering a fast, reliable and easy wireless
experience in close collaboration with leading carriers, hardware
makers, and users. In simple words, this is Google’s very own wireless
service for users. As mobile devices continue to undergo a rapid
transformation, it’s equally important that wireless connectivity keeps
pace with the technology to provide a ubiquitous experience to users.
Google is marching ahead with the wireless business with this

Apple and Google will soon battle for platform share in yet another major hardware category — the car. The two companies have developed operating-system extensions for the dashboard: Apple's CarPlay and Google's Android Auto.

According to a report, the connected car is fast emerging as one of the most important new digital platforms and of the 220 million total connected cars on the road globally in 2020, it is estimated that consumers will activate connected services in 88 million of these vehicles.

While the two platforms are pitted against each other, it is worth noting that there are subtle differences. Android Auto and CarPlay are designed to perform with native mobile platform and expected to release over the next year.

See more a quick comparison between both operating systems at: Apple CarPlay vs. Android Auto: Who will rule the dashboard?

So you have done what it takes to develop a killer app. Now is the time to launch your app and watch your app move up the rankings. Right? Well, for most naive developers, it is about time for some reality check. In the entire mobile app development cycle, probably mobile app promotion is the most difficult task. It is a bitter pill to swallow, but most apps get stuck in this same stage and probably lost in oblivion.

According to Gartner by 2018, only 0.01 percent of consumer mobile apps will be considered financial success by developers. With millions of apps out there, the app world is a highly competitive and saturated market. You can’t sit back and relax once your app goes live.

<span style="font-family: Times,"Times New Roman",serif;">
<span style="font-family: Times,"Times New Roman",serif;">Predictive analytics is not a new phenomenon. It has been in
existence for decades and finally coming of age. Businesses across the
globe are looking to use this technology to predict trends and
understand user behavior for enhanced performance and improved
bottom-line results.
<span style="font-family: Times,"Times New Roman",serif;">

<span style="font-family: Times,"Times New Roman",serif;">And with the advent of big data, this method is now growing at a rapid pace.

<span style="font-family: Times,"Times New Roman",serif;">Businesses collect voluminous customer data and predictive analytics
utilizes this historical data to predict future events or otherwise
unknown events. Predictive analytics involves variety of statistical
techniques such as modeling, machine learning, and data mining to enable
organizations use big data (both stored and real-time) and move to a
progressive path for customer.

Recent studies have revealed that 80 percent of medical data is unstructured, although clinically relevant; and these data can be traced in multiple locations like physician notes, medical correspondence, individual EMRs, lab and imaging systems, CRM systems, finance and claims.

Even though healthcare organizations are leveraging big data technology to capture all of the information about a patient to get a more complete view about the medical data, getting access to this valued data and categorizing it into clinical and advanced analytics is crucial for building sustainable healthcare systems that are more accessible.

Impact of Big Data Apps in Healthcare Sector

While the world is talking about Big Data, in the healthcare sector big data originates from the large electronic health datasets that are very challenging to manage with the conventional hardware and software. Studies have shown that when we consider the technology impact, Big Data is found to be evolving to make real-life implementations for instance in semantic technologies, scalable data analytics and data storage, including machine learning to name a few.

At the same time these techniques can be combined and extended to address big data paradigm, while ensuring that domain-specific requirements are addressed. Big Health Data technologies can facilitate existing healthcare business intelligence, health data analytics and health data management application to the next level by providing means for the effective handling and analysis of complex and large healthcare data by relying on the following:

Healthcare Applications of Hadoop and Big data

One of the most frequently asked question is, “what is the BIG connection between Hadoop and big data”? Experts reveal that the only technology that allows healthcare to store data in its native form is Hadoop. This technology facilitates the decision making process as to what can come (and also what cannot come) into our data warehouse or the electronic medical record - as it is the only platform that regardless of data format or the speed at which it can be imbibed, can help data storage.

Hospital Network

Hospitals are now increasingly using Big Data in healthcare to provide the best clinical support, reduce the cost of care measurement and manage the population of high-risk patients. Hadoop applications help healthcare experts analyze incessant data pouring in real time from diverse sources such as financial data, payroll data, and electronic health records. These comprehensions help clinicians analyze and decide the most conducive treatment plans for one or more patient.

Monitoring Patient Vitals

Hadoop technology is also widely used in several hospitals across the world for patient care systems to help the hospital staff work efficiently with Big Data. Hospitals use sensor beside patient’s bed that can help them incessantly track vital signs such as heartbeat, blood pressure and the respiratory rate; and Hadoop ecosystem components - Hive, Flume, Sqoop, Spark, and Impala help to store and analyze the vital signs. In eventuality of any change in pattern, the system generates an alert that is sent to the team of healthcare providers.

For Cancer Treatments and Genomics

Research indicates that 3 billion base pairs constitute the human DNA; and when it comes to fighting cancer, it is all the more necessary for large amounts of data to be organized in an effective manner – considering cancer mutates in diverse patterns and reacts in different ways based on the genetic depiction of an individual. This is where leveraging Hadoop technology can prove to be worthwhile. Not only does Hadoop apps offer great support for parallelization, it also uses MapReduce programs to help mapping the 3 billion DNA base pairs.

Fraud Prevention and Detection

Insurance companies have been harnessing Hadoop’s capability to store large unstructured data while using MapReduce to analyze this data, in successfully developing predictive models to detect fraudsters – by helping in the analysis and detection of patterns in the field of Fraud Detection. This is done by making use of real-time and past data of medical claims, weather data, wages, voice recordings, demographics, cost of attorneys and call center notes as well.

Healthcare Intelligence

Healthcare Insurance Business harnesses the potential of Hadoop technology to facilitate hospitals, payers and healthcare agencies increase their competitive advantages by creating smart business solutions with associated costs (the risk) and dividing it proportionally as per the number of members in the risk group. Such data will help the insurer calculate the cost of insurance policy.

At WWDC 2015, Apple announced the launch of Mac OS X El Capitan, the latest version of its desktop operating system. This new OS is named “El Capitan” after the famous rock formation in the Yosemite National Park and will arrive this fall. El Capitan promises to take the “Mac experience to new heights.” OS X El Capitan leverages cutting-edge features and design introduced in OS X Yosemite to improve performance. El Capitan improves and tweaks little things to make a big impact.

Everyday tasks ranging from opening PDFs to accessing your email gets snappier than ever before. El Capitan allows you to do daily tasks you do the most, in a smart way. Tasks like searching your email got more natural and interesting with El Capitan.

With the release of Windows 10 slated on 29th July, we couldn’t help but compare both operating systems. Windows 10 aims to take personal computing to next level with a range of new features.

Here is a quick comparison between Windows 10 and El Capitan.

Smarter and Intelligent Search

Apple has announced significant changes to Spotlight search. The search window is now a real window and can be re-sized and moved like any other window, rather than its distracting front-and-center location in Yosemite.

Spotlight search gets smarter with context-sensitive search. If you want to search for documents you worked in April, simply type “documents I worked on April” Spotlight will know what you mean.

Cortana, Microsoft’s voice assistant learns your preferences and sets reminders and delivers on the best device. Cortana is cloud-based and keeps a track of user interests.

Gaming and graphics

Metal was released on iOS last year makes its way to its desktop machine. This technology effectively accelerates graphics with a 50% increase in rendering and a 40% improvement in efficiency of rendering.

Metal is ideal to help games look stunning. But it will take much more for Apple to woo game fanatics, especially since there is a buzz around that Xbox users will be able to stream their games to Windows 10 device and transform their tablets, laptops and smartphones into gaming zones.

Window-management feature

The once discarded Windows 10 start launch button will make a comeback in Windows 10. Microsoft strengthens it already existing window management system. Windows 10 lets users snap four apps into place on a screen or create virtual desktops for groupings.

El Capitan introduces Split View option where you can have two apps side-by-side in their respective full screen modes. However, split view applies only to full screen view of applications. While Apple has given users multiple desktops for several years, its side-by-side window-management feature was long overdue.

Pricing

You'll be able to upgrade to the new operating system automatically and free of charge on your recent iMac or Windows PC laptop. As a matter of fact, you will be reminded to upgrade on regular basis!

Compatibility

El Capitan

iMac (Mid-2007 or newer)

MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)

MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)

Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)

MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)

Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)

Xserve (Early 2009)

Windows 10
Compatible with any system that can already run Windows 8 and Windows 7.

Conclusion:

Both Windows 10 and OS X El Capitan look to formidable at this stage. However, they have not released yet. We'll wait until they're released to see their performance. Windows 10 has managed to gain the momentum, and El Capitan does nothing significant to change the course of its rival operating system.
