Google's next Nexus smartphone, likely to be called Nexus 6 or Nexus X, has become one of the most eagerly anticipated smartphones of the year, as rumors and leaks related to the device just keep coming in, even as the expected launch nears.
Google will unveil a Nexus smartphone this month, although actual launch details have not been revealed.
The new phone — code-named Shamu after a killer whale — will have a 5.9-inch screen, a high-resolution display and be sold under the Nexus brand, two of the people said.
MoDaCo’s Paul O’Brien revealed on Twitter that the phone won’t be “ultra-cheap.” “Nexus 6 (or whatever it ends up being called) should come in under £450 (around $724), but don’t expect ultra cheap,” he said.
Google hopes to deliver a Nexus phone that rivals the iPhone 6 Plus on display quality but at a lower price, according to one of the people familiar with the new device. The iPhone 6 Plus starts at $749 without a contract in the U.S. and costs more than $800 in Asia.
