As rumored last week, Universal Studios has finalized the purchase of the Steve Jobs biopic from Sony for a reported $30 million. Steve Jobs biopic scripted by Aaron Sorkin and directed by Danny Boyle, the movie is set to star Michael Fassbender in the lead role, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
A deal has been reached to bring the film about the Apple co-founder — which Danny Boyle is to direct from a script by Aaron Sorkin — to Universal, a studio spokesman confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter on Monday. According to sources, the project had been shopped with a price tag of more than $30 million.
Michael Fassbender is attached to star in the film, which is being produced by Scott Rudin, Mark Gordon and Guymon Casady.
The film is expected to follow Jobs during three stressful, high profile product launches, including NeXT, the debut of the Macintosh in 1984 and the iPod debut in 2001.
