Hangout Logo

Earlier this week, Google announced a pretty big update for its Hangouts app on Android. Now, the company is pushing out a separate update for Windows and Chromebook desktops that adds a few useful new features. You can grab the update now, and Google product manager Mayur Kamat confirmed the news with a screenshot of the new desktop Hangouts.

Hangouts for Desktop Updated with Better Notifications

Notifications should be way better on Hangouts for your desktop moving forward. You’ll also have the option to minimize the app so it’s hidden behind the scenes, though you’ll still get notifications when a new message comes in. Finally, Google added a new Phone tab in the main Hangouts window, making it easier to quickly call someone from your computer.
